Uncontrollable autonomic Dysreflexia?

lundi 18 avril 2016

So every spinal injury is different in severity and level, but also every injury is dealt a different amount of secondary complications you know the little fun perks that come with the death and decay of your body ( aside from The obvious ones incontinence, weak immune System etc. ) such as spasticity, nerve pain, bladder pressure, lung problems , blood pressure and autonomic dysreflexia problems. Some have a few of the things I stated, that are minor to severe, others have none and some poor bastards like myself have all of them very severe! (I won't be asking about osteoporosis as in general everyone that is paralyzed gets that below the injury and I am now educated on the subject, despite their not really being a good option for it) :banghead:.

So spasticity is addressed with antispasmodics; bladder pressure is addressed with medication and Botox; nerve pain is addressed with a terrible drug Lyrica; lung problems are addressed with diaphragm exercises (if applicable), devices like the breathalyzer, and in severe cases a ventilator; blood pressure problems are managed by terrible medication. And of course everyone reacts differently to these "treatments" some they are successful others they do nothing; and everything in between,i've yet to see any of these prove beneficial! Mind you I won't dope myself to the ends of the earth,as I'm aware of the problems that causes... But how is autonomic dysreflexia addressed when the cause cannot be found, everything is ruled out,it happens periodically every day sometimes very severe and/or it happens with every kind ofwell many different things; bowel care, bladder care, sex, spasms or movements, certain exercises or using electrostimulation anywhere on the body, occasionally when sitting; occasionally when standing? Just to name a few examples! You go to the ER, often they don't take it seriously, or they don't know what it is.eventually it just subsides, you think they helped you and then it picks right back up when you get home! Like what a mind#### over time it seems the body gets more and more susceptible to ADat least in my experience. So what's modern medicine's take on this, periodic calcium blockers, Constant nitrates or whatever they're called, pain medicine pump???

Every sci doctors answer; is maybe it's this, maybe it's that; well yes, but it's many more things then those too, most I can't really address. Or you know the age old "go to ER"
